Ok yes, I am that clichè who makes New Year’s Resolutions every year and more often than not breaks them every year. But as a new year comes, I always sit down and ponder on what kind of things I’d like to achieve this year. For me, it doesn’t really matter whether you stick to them or not, that moment to sit down and to really think about who you’d like to become is enough grounding.
So, I’ll lay out my New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 in hope it can maybe inspire some of you guys in what you’d like to achieve this year.
First thing’s first, I’m going to attempt a diet change. Standard I know, but it’s something that’s quite important to me as I’m breaking into my 20s. I want to make healthy eating and natural foods a central part of my life, almost so that it becomes habit. As well as eating healthier, I’d like to make a conscious effort of eating less meat. I’m halfway through my third year and so far, I have been mostly eating quorn, veggie alternatives and avoiding red meat in particular. Now I’m not saying I’m a vegan or vegetarian nor do I strive to be either, I don’t really know what I am to be totally honest. I guess I’m just trying to be more of a conscious eater who acknowledges the impacts my eating habits can have.
A key part of my New Year’s Resolutions is to put myself out here and not let my shyness get in the way of success. This has been the story of my uni life so far, where I let my shyness and discomfort get the better of me. It’s the most frustrating thing when you know what you want and how you want to succeed, but you’re just too shy to get there. 2020 is the year I’m going to ditch my shyness and push myself out of my comfort zone.
Being 22 and a third-year uni student, 2020 is more than likely going to be the busiest, most exciting but scariest year of my life. Adult life is approaching, graduation is just around the corner and everything is becoming all too real. So undoubtedly, making myself proud academically is high up on my resolutions list. I’m doing a degree in a subject I love, so doing my best has always been important to me. A key goal for 2020 is to achieve the grades I want and the career I’d love, so I’m going to keep on pushing for those things.
I’ve always been one of those people who cares about the way they look. Yes looks aren’t everything and you should never put pressure on yourself to look your best all the time, but I believe feeling good comes from looking good. So 2020 is going to be the year where I take pride in my appearance, make time for pamper nights and keep learning new ways to take care of myself.
2020 is undoubtedly going to be one of the biggest year’s for me to date, but I’m ready. I’m ready for everything it has in store for me, the good and the bad. I’m determined to make this year the best start to a new decade.
Thanks for reading,
