Silver Shampoo: The best and worst I've ever used

If anyone else reading this is a blonde who stresses about keeping the yellow, brassy tones at bay then join the club! It's the bane of a blonde's life and silver shampoo has to be factored into our haircare routine on a weekly basis - not fun!
Silver shampoos come in all shapes and sizes, some make your hair the perfect icy colour while others give blue hues and stain your fingers. It's a stressful task but some silver shampoos are a godsend - you just have to muddle through to reach the diamond in the rough.
So having had blonde hair for most of my life (even grey hair two years ago), I've had my fair share of experience with silver shampoo. I'm going to start with the worst and save the best till last.
Provoke Touch of Silver Shampoo
This is usually the cheapest silver shampoo on the shelf and when I say cheap, I mean dirt cheap at £1.50 in Superdrug. So inevitably, we have all picked it up at some point in our lives. It tends to stain your hands more than it actually works on your hair. Not only that, I find my hair feels super dry after using this and as though it has stripped its moisture completely (meaning we use MORE conditioner than we need to!).
This is among one of the worst silver shampoos I've personally used and it doesn't tend to work well with my hair. But hey, everyone's difference and it may work wonders on your locks.
Charles Worthington Colourplex Toning Ultraviolet Shampoo
Now I'm not saying this is the worst, but it's not quite the best I've ever used. It's sulphate free which is a great bonus but I find it clings to certain parts of my hair making some strands purple tones, some blonde and some grey. It was of course brilliant when I used it during my grey hair days, as it didn't matter how long I left it on for, it gave me that shiny grey look I was after. But for blonde specifically, it's not quite the best. It almost ruins my colour as it creates a mix that isn't meant to be there, rather than control which tone my hair should turn out.
All in all, it's not terrible and if you grab it on offer and it's the only silver shampoo left on the shelf (despite Provoke, you should ignore that one) then it's not too bad. But I don't think I'd pay full price for it.
Bleach London Silver Shampoo
This is one of the better silver shampoos that I've used. It is slightly drying so perhaps using it twice a week and also using a hair mask once a week would help fight that issue.
Colour wise, it stays true to its promise of giving you the cool, icy look and really banishing those brassy tones. It's very rarely on offer but the price tag feels appropriate once you've used it a few times and realise that it actually does as it says!
MOOD Silver Specific Shampoo
So far, MOOD has to be the best silver shampoo I've used. It's mostly because of the fact it isn't too strong so there's no limit to how much you can use this product. It subtly lightens, cools and neutralises your blonde and gives you a bright and white blonde look.
Better yet, my hair never feels dry, weak or stripped of moisture when I use this product. In fact, it still feels quite smooth afterwards which results in me only using the amount of conditioner I should be - all hail MOOD for this student-friendly benefit.
Of course, this post is just to chat about the best and worst silver shampoos that I've ever used. I have always dyed my hair since I was around 13 so my hair may be in different condition to someone else's. All in all I guess I'm just trying to shine a light on the vast silver shampoo market and maybe offer some guidance to some of you who may be looking for their next step in silver shampooing.
I hope this post has been helpful and as always, thanks for reading!
